Hello!

I’m Borja, a proud son of the Castrosanto Wolf Clan, and a curious professional blend between a computer scientist and a sociocultural dynamizer. I currently work as a Senior Frontend Dev at BeDisruptive and co-organize ValenciaJS.

A Computer Scientist by Day

I studied at the Polytechnic University of Valencia from 2001 to 2008.

On my first day of class, we were told that we would discover how quickly the world changes, and three days later, classes were halted to show us images of September 11.

Fortunately, the rapid changes in my life have never been so dramatic, but they have led me to explore both development (desktop, back, front, fullstack) and systems administration, even becoming a CTO in a startup a few years ago.

For the past 6 years, I’ve been working almost exclusively with JavaScript (and TypeScript). On the frontend, I first worked with Angular and now with React and its ecosystem, while on the backend, I gradually moved away from PHP in favor of NestJS. Although I am officially a Frontend Dev, I also participate in backend tasks in the projects I’m working on.

Additionally, I’m working at a cybersecurity consultancy, which allows me to learn about such an interesting topic in a general sense, and specifically about AppSec, so the coming years look promising in this area.

I’m also training to become a Tech Lead, so I hope to start managing development teams in the near future.

Pasta on the Plate, Not in the Repo

Personally, I don’t have a problem with spaghetti code.

It just makes extending and maintaining an application a very particular kind of hell.

That’s why I try to be selfish in development and do everything possible to make my life easier. It’s not just about applying so-called best practices in development, but also good practices in communication, documentation, and so on.

Oh, don’t think I apply it as much as I’d like. Time is what it is, but I usually spend time automating what I can to free up time for everything else.

Full-Time Community Facilitator

I became a leisure instructor in 2007 to study a vocational training course in Sociocultural Animation a couple of years later, and although I’ve always enjoyed facilitating communities, I specialized in leisure for the elderly because it’s the future (literally).

I worked with Nova Prevenció NGO from 2010 to 2018 in risk behavior prevention for young people, and in the meantime, I went from facilitating some Internet forums to collaborating for a while with Rich Dad Club Valencia (financial education) and landing in the organization of WordPress Valencia in 2017, where I helped relaunch the local community and organize the first WordCamp Valencia in 2018.

After a hiatus of several years, in 2024, I’m trying to relaunch ValenciaJS. I won’t do it alone, and it will (hopefully) be a lot of fun.

A Short Pencil Is Better Than a Long Memory

But it’s not enough to just write everything down, so for the past few years, I’ve been using Obsidian to note and manage my knowledge (with Zettelkasten), and my life in general (GTD, calendar, etc.).

Let’s Talk!

If you’re interested in anything I’ve mentioned, drop me a message and let’s talk about it.
